Louisiana EFT Community is honored to have EFT Trainer Dr. James Hawkins to facilitate EFCT Core Skills Training 1 & 2 on Monday, January 27, 2025, through Wednesday, January 29, 2025, starting at 8:30 AM until 5:30 PM CST.
The EFCT Core Skills 1& 2 Training will be located at Tulane University School of Social Work. Tulane's Porter Cason Institute originally brought EFT to our state, and they continue to be a sponsoring partner in providing EFT training for our Louisiana Community for EFT.
EFT Core Skills 1 & 2 will focus on EFT Stage One. This training is limited to 16 attendees, where participants will learn through didactic instruction, role play, and presentation of their own work via video tape. Participants must show 10 minutes of their work with a real couple during one of the core skills modules.
*The scope of this training primarily focuses on couples' work, discussing the unique complexities and challenges in these dynamics. However, the interventions and theoretical framework can also be applied in family and individual sessions.
24 Continuing Education Hours will be provided to licensed and provisionally licensed therapists. Attending both Core Skills 1&2 and 3&4 scheduled on Wednesday, May 8th- Friday, May 10th are recommended. A total of 48 Continuing Hours will be obtained when attending both training events.
The LA Community for EFT will award 2 partial scholarships to 2 therapists who are from or work with historically marginalized populations. Please email lacommunityforeft@gmail.com for an application. Scholarship applications will be due by Friday, November 14th.

Dr. James Hawkins, ‘Doc Hawk’, is a Licensed Counselor with 11 years of experience and is an ICEEFT certified trainer, supervisor, and therapist. He obtained a Master’s in Marriage and Family Counseling and a Ph.D. in Psychology and Counseling. He currently serves as a Clinical Coordinator at a non-profit counseling practice in Northwest Arkansas. James is the founder of Healing Conversations, a training program developed to equip organizations and communities to have productive conversations about race. He is the co-host of two podcasts, The Leading Edge in Emotionally Focused Therapy, and The Leading Edge: Transforming Leadership Through Attachment Science. James is a part of the online training program, successinvulnerability.com developed to help EFT therapists and supervisors gain more focus in their clinical work.
